Paintings by David Derr

David Derr's assemblages are creations of playfulness that attempt to comment on psychological and spiritual states. The assemblages are also experiment in creating pieces that would attract three art collectors of three markets, Folk Art, Antiques, and Contemporary Art. The "Sentinel" series incorporate hand carved scrollwork of a Victorian era vintage, carved wooden cornices, semi-precious minerals, gemstones, fossils and collectible objects found in antique shops, the internet, farms and the trash. Objects that are old, weathered and rusted have always attracted Derr, some of the pieces contain modern objects artificially rusted for that  antique look. And then there are the Barbie dolls.......
